Pupils from Bluecoat school celebrating it's 300th birthday with a concert featuring the school choir at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool _320
THE Blue Coat school celebrated its 300th birthday last night with a huge eclectic concert at the Royal Philharmonic Hall.
It was the first time the school had ever performed at the hall, making the show a special birthday celebration.
Featuring the school’s 200-strong choir and full orchestra, the performance also included solo pieces and music from the school’s concert band and jazz band.
More than 800 tickets had been ordered in advance of the show led by Martin Cook, director of music at the school.
Sandy Tittershill, headteacher, said: “We’ve never had a concert at the Philharmonic before so it was a special occasion and a special venue in one.
“Music has always been a strength of the school. It was fantastic to have so many people in the Philharmonic as we usually only attract 200-300 people to our own school hall.”
