Ministers approve two new schools

MINISTERS have approved the early stage of plans to create two new academies to replace the secondary schools in Ellesmere Port.

Parents across the borough have been given an update on the development of two state-of-the-art Academies by the director of children’s services Joan Feenan.

In a letter to parents the director says the project can move to the next stage following ministerial approval of the sponsors’ Expressions of Interest.

Detailed technical work will now begin on how the two 1,500-place all-ability schools are to be set up and on key issues such as buildings, staffing and curriculum.

This will enable the county council and the sponsors to prepare the funding agreement which would be the detailed blueprint for the implementation.

The letter informs parents that there will be full public consultation.
