STUDENTS at Warrington Collegiate showed off their new gear before jetting off to the Himalayas.
Member of the army recruitment service in Warrington presented fleece jackets to the 50 students who are currently out in India for 15 days.
Carl Byrne, a former army medic who now teaches the public service course at the Collegiate, arranged for the army’s help to face temperatures of -5 degrees at night.
Mr Byrne said: “The 16-18-year-old social worker and social services students will travel around India visiting schools and missions and learning about survival.
“We asked the army for sponsorship and they got back in touch and gave us the jackets and other equipment.
“They also spoke to the students about survival as it will be 37 degrees in the day and -5 at night.”
