Police on railway watch

BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) say they will target “hotspot” locations for vandalism during the Easter holiday.

Known as “route crime,” offences such as stone-throwing, putting obstructions in front of trains, trespassing and line-side vandalism will all be targeted as part of the two-week initiative.

Officers will patrol hotspot locations. BTP will also deploy motorbike patrols. CCTV will be monitored at stations and throughout the network.

Anyone with information about a crime on the railway should contact BTP on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
