Pupils urged to try for scholarships

PUPILS from Wirral and Chester are being invited to compete for a scholarship place, worth up to two years’ school fees, at one of the region’s leading independent schools.

Ruthin School is to hold exams on April 19 for young people as part of its second A-level scholarship scheme for sixth form entry.

Successful pupils can opt to board or be day students at the historic school, which dates back to 1284.

The scheme is being offered to young people locally as well as abroad, in partnership with the British Council.

Ruthin School Bursar Toby Belfield said: “This time they will be general scholarships, open to children who show promise in sciences or other academic subjects.”

To sit the entrance exam, contact the admissions secretary on 01824 702543.
