International flavour for street market

THE first International Street Market of 2008 is being launched in Liverpool today.

The 300 metres of 45 stalls will be in Williamson Square and Tarleton Street until Sunday, offering produce from countries as far afield as Iran, China and Indonesia, open from 9am to 5.30pm, with a late night tonight.

Geraud Markets, which runs 1,200 regular markets each year in co-operation with Liverpool City Coun- cil, is behind the event.

Tony Fraser, deputy chief executive of the Geraud Group, said: “Last year, after several years of delivering highly successful Continental markets, we took a conscious decision to broaden our offer to include non-European traders.

“We are confident that our International Street market will prove even more popular with the thousands of customers who regularly support these events”.
