'Darth Vader' invader attacks Jedi man

A MAN dressed as Darth Vader has attacked a founder member of the Holyhead Jedi Church.

Barney Jones, known as Jonba Hehol by the Church, and his cousin was struck by a man wearing a bin- bag cape and wielding a crutch, at his home on Maes Cybi on Tuesday.

The minister of the Anglesey order and spokesman for the Jedi Church, said he was left with a sore head following the assault.

They were filming for a TV documentary when the Darth Vader impersonator leapt into the garden.

The incident has been passed on to police who are now investigating.

Mr Jones, 27, said: "It was more stupidity than anything.

"Myself and my cousin were doing some filming for a documentary on the Jedi Church, when we were attacked.

"Someone jumped over our front garden wall wearing a black bin-bag cape and said he was Darth Vader, before hitting us with a crutch. I had a headache afterwards. I got hit on the head and my cousin had red marks to his legs."

Barney said the cameraman caught the incident on tape.

A North Wales Police spokeswoman said they were investigating.

Barney founded the Anglesey Order of Jedi with his brother Daniel after being inspired by the 2001 UK census.

More than 390,000 people listed their religion as Jedi, and their order now ministrates the UK Church of Jedi Knights, as well as orders as far afield as Florida and the Philippines.
