Philharmonic youth
THE European Union Youth Orchestra performed at the Philharmonic Hall yesterday afternoon as part of the final leg of its 2008 tour.
Conducted by the orchestra’s musical director, Vladimir Ashkenazy, the concert featured acclaimed German violinist Arabella Steinbacher. The concert, presented by the Liverpool Culture Company as one of the highlights of the year’s Capital of Culture events, included Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No.1, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto and Strauss’s Symphonia Domestica.
