KEN DODD was yesterday busily preparing for his two sell-out shows tonight and tomorrow at St George’s Hall’s small concert room.
Dodd’s tribute to comedians will cover a century of comic talent including Arthur Askey, Ted Ray, Robb Wilton, Beryl Orde and Avril Angers, and is his gift to the city of his birth and the people of Liverpool in Capital of Culture year.
Dodd said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be paying homage a few of those who gave so much to the comedy heritage of the nation, and to Liverpool and Merseyside in particular.”
Proceeds will be shared between seven charities including Zoe’s Place baby hospice in West Derby and a local Alzheimer’s charity using laughter as therapy.
