Cyclist broke golf groundsman’s jaw

A GOLF course grounds-man suffered a fractured jaw after he tried to stop a father cycling on the green.

Green-keeper at Bootle Golf course Shaun Conway approached Kevin Johanson as he rode his bike across the course.

But Liverpool Crown Court heard the father-of-two was in a fraught state because his son had disap-peared and a row broke out. David McLachlan, prose-cuting, told the court Johan-son pushed Mr Conway, and when the groundsman retal-iated, he punched him in the face and rode off. The blow broke Mr Conway’s jaw. Johanson, 38, who admitted one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, was ordered to do 250 hours unpaid work in the community.
