Legal threat over Wirral Egg Run fate

THE ROW over who runs the Wirral Egg Run has taken a new twist, with one group threatening the other with legal action if next year’s event is put in jeopardy.

As revealed in the Daily Post yesterday, the dispute is between a new limited company set up to organise the charity run, and members of the committee who claim they still have control.

The committee last week sacked Ian Kendrick, chairman of the limited company called Wirral Egg Run, after passing a vote of no confidence in him.

But Mr Kendrick said the committee had effectively ceased to exist once his company took over the Egg Run.

Solicitors acting on his behalf said they had now demanded that any money held by the “old” committee be handed over to the new limited company.

In a statement, David Kirwan, senior partner at Kirwans Solicitors, said: “There is only one chairman of the Wirral Egg Run, Ian Kendrick, and one company, the Wirral Egg Run (Limited), whose responsibility it is to run this prestigious annual event.”
