PLANS for a huge new Marks & Spencer store at Ellesmere Port’s Cheshire Oaks development have been unveiled.

The 195,000 sq ft store, off Longlooms Road, is the company’s biggest investment in a UK store in the past 15 years.

The store will employ around 500 people selling clothing, home furnishings and technology products as well as food, and will also have an M&S café, restaurant and deli. There will be 950 car parking spaces.

Ellesmere Port and Neston council chief executive Brenda Harvey said: “This is excellent news for the borough.

“Interest from Marks & Spencer demonstrates just how successful a location Ellesmere Port has become.

“A development of this type would be a welcome addition to the attractions available in the Cheshire Oaks area.”

Details of the proposed development will go on display at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall from 9am-7pm on Friday, April 11, and the following day in the M&S Simply Food store on Coliseum Way, from 9am to 5pm.
