PLANS to scrap two schools and plug a £290,000 debt have moved a step closer.
Statutory notices to close Liverpool’s Roscoe Infant School and Roscoe Junior School, Clubmoor, in August, have been published.
The schools already share the same headteacher and building, and subject to government approval will join to form Roscoe Community Primary School.
Spiralling costs of maintaining two schools and an existing £290,000 deficit means taking no action would lead to irrecoverable losses for the city council.
Plans to create the new 420-place school with 26 nursery places won community backing during consultation.
And if plans are approved, the school will be established on September 1 at Alison Road in the existing buildings.
The junior and infant schools came under one governing body and one headteacher, Amanda Anders, last summer.
A new uniform and logo is likely to coincide with the name change.
Full details are available from the council’s website.
