40 firefighters tackle huge terrace blaze at Seaforth

Seaforth fire

MORE than 40 fire-fighters tackled a huge blaze in Seaforth yesterday.

Crews were called to a carpet showroom in Seaforth Road shortly after 3pm.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said four terraced proper-ties were involved, with the fire concen-trated on three floors.

Two combined plat-form ladders and an incident command unit were in attendance.

The fire created a huge pall of smoke which could be seen from miles away.

Police closed off a section of Seaforth Road between Hicks Road and School Lane while fire crews tackled the blaze.

There were no reports of any injuries or evacuations.

The worst affected building will be structurally inspected by Sefton Council because of the extent of the damage.
