Move rumours quashed by Barclaycard

BARCLAYCARD have moved to quash rumours they are gearing up to move away from Kirkby.

Rumours had grown following the suggestion made by an employee during a meeting of Kirkby Residents Action Group that Barclaycard, which employs several hundred, was moving to Prescot.

Company spokesman James Cooke said: “It is utter rubbish to suggest we are seeking to move out of Kirkby.

“We’re delighted with our staff there and are seeking to expand so that we can take on more Kirkby employees.”

He did confirm the firm is aiming to move out of the current building.

“We’re desperate to stay in Kirkby,” he added.

However he stopped short of a total guarantee that the company would stay in the town itself.
