Roadside tributes to teenage victim of motorbike smash

Wirral crash

BUNCHES of flowers have been tied to a lamp-post in Wirral after a 17-year-old man was killed.

Tributes to the motorcyclist, named locally as Phillip, have been mounting up at the crash scene on Townfield Lane, Oxton.

One card reads: “Can’t believe you’re gone. It seems like only yesterday we were all playing in our back gardens when we were little.”

Another reads: “You’re gonna be missed so much. We don’t understand this right now. Speechless.”

The accident happened at 10pm on Friday evening at the junction with Flatt Lane when a green Hackney taxi collided with a motorcycle.

Philip, who was riding the motorcycle, was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital with serious head injuries where he later died.

The taxi driver stopped at the scene and is helping Merseyside Police with their enquiries.
