A WOMAN was left lying a in a pool of her own blood on her birthday after being attacked by her jealous ex-boyfriend.
Jane Fairfield had invited her former partner Duncan Edwards to her home for a party, despite him being banned for life from going near her.
But Edwards, 42, flew into a rage because she received flowers from someone else.
He grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground before smashing her head on the marble floor.
Edmund Haygarth, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court when Ms Fairfield came round she found Edwards mopping up the pool of blood.
He then forced her to tell paramedics she had slipped and banged her head.
Edwards, of Ambrose Grove, Walton, admitting breaching his restraining order, but denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was found guilty by a jury and jailed for two years with an extended licence for three years.
