DRIVERS heading into North Wales from Merseyside and parts of Cheshire face delays this weekend while roadworks take place.
Westbound traffic will not be able to use a short section of carriageway on the A5117, from Pleasant View Farm to Woodbank Junction.
The roadworks to connect new link roads to the carriageway will be taking place, and this means vehicles will also be prevented from using part of the adjoining A550 southbound carriageway.
The work is planned to take place between 9pm on Friday, May 9, and 8am on Monday, May 12.
Diversions will be in place, but motorists heading to North Wales are advised to consider using the A55 as an alternative.
Stephen Greenhalgh, Highways Agency project manager, said: “Unfortunately, while we are connecting the carriageway to the new link roads, we can't have traffic driving over it.”
A five-kilometre dual carriageway is being built to provide a free- flowing link road between the end of the M56 and North Wales.
