Brain-op man to help Liverpool hospital that saved his life

A 29-YEAR-OLD who has had 29 brain operations since the age of six has launched a fundraising campaign for the hospital that saved his life.

Simon Lannon, an architectural technician who lives in the city centre, featured in the Daily Post in March, to announce his triathlon attempt to raise £60,000 for the Walton Centre in Fazakerley.

He suffers from the condition hydrocephalus, a birth defect which means fluid does not drain away from the brain.

As part of his training, he completed a 40k bike ride at the hospital yesterday and launched the No Limits Campaign.

The campaign aims to increase fundraising and also membership, to help the hospital reach Foundation Trust status.

A spokesman for the Walton Centre said: “The No Limits Campaign has been inspired by people like Simon Lannon and people like the surgeons, nurses and support staff who have helped make the kind of life he leads possible.

Simon added:

“The staff at the Walton Centre have been an amazing support for me and this is my way of saying thank you.”
