Clucas quits Liverpool Council leadership race

A SENIOR Liberal Democrat in Liverpool last night said she would not stand in the party’s leadership race.

Cllr Flo Clucas, executive member for economic development and Europe, said: “I am not going to stand this time, and that’s for personal reasons.

“It does not mean that I would not stand again in future, but I have a personal matter that I need to sort through.” That leaves council leader Warren Bradley; Cllr Richard Kemp, the leader of the Lib-Dem group at the Local Government Association; and former education supremo Paul Clein fighting it out for the top job.

Lib-Dems will meet at the town hall on Monday night to vote for their leader. Intense discussions have been taking place.
