Fans join Liverpool legends on hallowed turf for Soccer Night fundraiser

Fans join Liverpool legends on hallowed turf for Soccer Night fundraiser

LIVERPOOL fans realised their dreams by playing alongside LFC legends at Anfield for charity.

The supporters walked out in front of the Kop with former players Jan Molby, Rob Jones and John Aldridge.

At the Football Aid event, Jones and Aldridge joined the home team while Molby was playing for the away side.

It was organised by community officer and former player Brian Hall.

Football Aid is held at stadiums of teams in the English and Scottish football leagues to raise money for various projects and charities, including diabetes research, as well as those nominated by clubs taking part.

A Granada Soccer Night crew was there filming the final part of their Heads and Volleys competition.

The Liverpool legends’ effort will be televised on Tuesday and producer Tim Hill promised fans they will not be disappointed.

He said: “It was brilliant to see two quality players come out of retirement and an absolute honour to see them in action again.

“I would like to thank John and Jan very much for taking part and I would also like to thank Brian Hall and Liverpool FC for allowing us to do the filming at Anfield.

“They were absolutely amazing and it made for very good television and it was all for a good cause, the Football Aid charity.”

GRANADA Soccer Night is on at 11pm on Tuesday.
