A GROWING number of photographers submitting pictures to the Liverpool Daily Post’s online 08 gallery are turning to black and white to make their prints stand out.
Thanks to the boom in digital photography, experts say more photographers than ever are turning their hand to such shots – largely because it only takes a click of a button, rather than using a special film, to grab such striking images.
And dozens of black and white photos are being added every week to the Liverpool Daily Post’s group on photo-sharing website Flickr.
First up this week is Hobgrumble’s moody and dramatic shot of docks on the banks of the River Mersey.
With what appears to be a dull sky in the background, the dark crane is really brought out by using black and white.
Flickr user “The Great God Pan” proves that all the world’s a stage with his snap of two teenagers doing an impromptu dance on the steps of St George’s Hall, Liverpool.
And the final image to continue that theme is “Wekim’s” photograph of a street entertainer performing as a clown in Liverpool City Centre.
