Readers’ Daily Post paper hits the streets

MORE than 1,000 readers of the Liverpool Daily Post’s website yesterday took part in a unique project to find out how the paper is put together.

Daily Post staff from across the Liverpool Daily Post’s team took part in a live blog, telling readers what they were doing and urging them to get involved in creating today’s newspaper. As a result, around 1,300 people who logged on to the blog during the day helped shape the stories you are reading today.

Among the highlights of the day was a live post from Westminster correspondent Rob Merrick, who used the blog to break the news that Wirral MP Frank Field had apologised to Gordon Brown for a personal attack on him.

Users also suggested questions for reporter David Bartlett to ask council leader Warren Bradley, saw their thoughts implemented on how the liverpool dailypost.co.uk website should look, and discussed the tone of the leader column.

Pictures were placed on the blog from events during the day, while several key features, including the afternoon editorial conference, were filmed and played through the blog.

Editor Mark Thomas, writing on the blog, said: " The feedback we have had from you has been great, and I would like to thank everyone for the advice, encouragement and suggestions we’ve had.

"One thing from today is crystal clear. This is a great way of communicating with our audience, and it is something we will definitely look to build on.", to help us deliver the newspaper and the companion websites you want."
