New “health park” plan fears

PLANS to build a new “health park” in the centre of a Wirral town could be approved by the end of the month.

Wirral Primary Care Trust’s planning application would see four existing GP surgeries relocated on to the existing ambulance station.

Hoylake Road Medical Centre, Moreton Cross Group Practice, Moreton Health Clinic and Moreton Medical Centre would all be moved to the site at the existing Pasture Road Health Centre, which will be remodelled.

The Health Park will also include a new stand alone pharmacy, improved parking

and the relocation of existing ambulance station – the existing ambulance station is to be demolished. Local councillor Chris Blakely called for the application be put before the planning committee rather than be decided by council planning officers.

He said the scheme will have a huge impact on local residents, as well as some potential road safety issues that need to be carefully addressed.
