Shooting puts man in hospital

A 22-YEAR-OLD man received stomach injuries in a shooting incident in the Huyton area of Merseyside yesterday.

He was shot by another man in a field at the junction of Liverpool Road and Seth Powell Way, at about 1.50pm.

The injured man was taken to hospital, where he is described as stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 26-year-old man from Huyton was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Merseyside Police said house-to-house inquiries had taken place in the area, and crime scene investigators were carrying out forensic examinations at the scene.

High-visibility patrols were also stepped up in the area.
