Look what the cat dragged in!

Claude the cat burglar

MEET Claude – Merseyside’s best cat burglar.

The 12-month-old smoked black tabby likes curling up in front of the fire, being stroked . . . and stealing things.

Over the past eight weeks, whenever Claude goes out he brings back a present for his owner, Sheila Banner.

But rather than dead mice or birds like most young cats, Claude has been bringing back new balls of wool through his Prescot cat flap.

This week he came home with a half-knitted woolly jumper.

Now mother-of-two Mrs Banner, 63, wants to reunite his haul with its rightful owner.

The nursery nurse, who works at Happy From Home nursery in Broadgreen, said: “I can only imagine there is a little old lady out there in Prescot who thinks she is going insane because the brand new balls of wool she is buying are going missing.

“And now the jumper she has obviously spent some time on has gone too. It’s not dirty at all and you can see where it was on the knitting needles until Claude pulled it off.

“I just want to get it back to her. We’ve got a mountain of wool on our side now and I want to apologise as well.

“He’s a comical cat to look at and this just has us in stitches wondering what he’s going to bring home next.”

Anyone who thinks the wool and the jumper could be theirs should call 0151-472 2454.
