A BRAWL between two gangs of teenagers over the Bank Holiday has sparked a police investigation.
The two groups of youths clashed at Widnes railway station on Bank Holiday Monday.
A group of around 10 boys from Liverpool, aged between 14 and 17, travelled to Widnes to ride their BMX bikes at the skate park in Victoria Park.
They were confronted by a gang of 10 Widnes youths and the Liverpool teenagers decided to leave the skate park at 7.30pm.
They were then followed to the station by the gang and a fight ensued which spilled on to the tracks at the station.
During the incident, one of the males from Liverpool had his BMX bike stolen.
The bike is a BMX, cream in colour with a distinctive “animal face” on the front tyre.
DC Terry Edwards, from British Transport Police, said: “We won’t tolerate large-scale disorder and violence such as this on the railway, and the fact that the incident spilled onto the tracks means that all those involved put their lives at risk.”
