Creamfields secures licence for 10th birthday event

CREAMFIELDS has been granted a licence meaning plans for the massive music event are full steam ahead.

This year the two-day award winning festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary and feature camping for the first time.

A fresh approach means the festival’s capacity has been reduced by 10,000 people allowing a maximum of 40,000 people each day.

Building on the success of last year which saw an 80% drop in reported incidents, the organisers have promised a safe and secure event.

Working with Cheshire Police, this year’s crime reduction strategy includes 24-hour policing, 500 security personnel, increased CCTV and metal detectors at all entrances.

A Cream spokesperson said last night: “We are delighted to have been granted the licence for this year’s 10th anniversary festival. Working closely with Cheshire Police and the local authority we aim to make this year’s event safe, enjoyable and the best one yet.”

Inspector Debbie Dodd, from Cheshire Police, said: “It’s important to Cheshire Police that those attending the event have an enjoyable time in a safe environment.

“Police officers will be there to provide reassurance to both people attending the event and the local community.”

Creamfields is on August 23 and 24 Bank Holiday, and the line-up includes Fatboy Slim, Ian Brown and Sasha.
