A MAN has denied shooting dead a driver who was behind the wheel of his car.
Derek Stevens, 35, was killed while driving his golden Land Rover in Mackets Lane, Halewood.
A bullet pierced the windscreen and hit the father-of-one in the head.
Mr Stevens’s 4x4 then hit a taxi head-on.
Carl Fury, 24, of Wood Road, Halewood, is charged with his murder.
He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday via video link from Altcourse prison and denied the killing. He is due to face trial on July 21.
Five other people were arrested in connection with the shooting, but no other charges have been brought.
