THE largest cruise liner to arrive in Liverpool made her grand entrance today.

The Grand Princess sailed up the Mersey just before 6am, providing a spectacular addition to the Three Graces.

Carrying 2,600 passengers, 950 ft long and weighing 109,000 tonnes the grand dame of the seas sailed into port as part of a 12-day tour of the British Isles.

With a whole deck of mini-suites, 700 balcony staterooms, casino, cigar lounge, afternoon tea served daily and on-board theatre, the Grand Princess compares with the traditional ocean-going liners built in Liverpool over the last century.

It also has 10 different restaurants, a string of swimming pools and a Movies Under The Stars outdoor cinema.

The ship was expected to cast off and set sail at around 7pm tonight to continue its cruise which includes visits to Guernsey, Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Inverness and Normandy.

The Grand Princess is the first Princess class ship to visit Liverpool.

It is due to return to the city three more times this summer on July 5 and 29 and August 22.

Log on for a full gallery of pictures of the Grand Princess later today.
