A DERELICT colliery in Merseyside is set to be transformed into an “informal” country park.
Knowsley Council approved an application by the Land Restoration Trust to convert the former Cronton Colliery into public open space
Euan Hall, chief executive of the Trust, said: “We are pleased to be given approval.”
The plan is to create a 43 hectare informal park for people to walk, run, cycle or ride horses.
Work should start in September.
