Primary pupils gather to mark the move to secondary schools

LIVERPOOL’S Anglican Cathedral played host to more than 2,000 Year Six pupils from across Merseyside.

The pupils from Church of England schools across the Diocese of Liverpool attended services yesterday and today to mark their move from primary to secondary school.

The Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Rev James Jones, led the service yesterday while the Bishop of Warrington, the Rt Rev David Jennings, will take today’s proceedings.

The services aim to give the pupils a sense of occasion, and make them think about the friendships they have made and the new ones they will make.

Bishop Jones said: “Leaving primary school is an important step for a young person.”
