David Johnston, Liverpool Diocese's former director of communications _320
THE Bishop of Liverpool should resign, according to the man who yesterday won his case for unfair dismissal against the church.
Following the hearing at the Cunard Building, in Liverpool, David Johnston said: “This Diocese is not enough for him. I believe the city deserves something much better than that.
“It’s a very sad case and I never wanted these things to come out. But maybe it has been a good thing because people can see what has happened here.
“Jesus was full of compassion, and if you’re going to exercise power you need to do so with mercy.
“But what I felt was that when I was down on the ground they kicked me. The church doesn’t do that normally.”
He said he will be now be looking for more PR work, but not in the church.
