Kensington shooting _320
A HUGE cordon was put in place for several hours last night as police investigated the shooting a middle aged man in Liverpool.
The 48-year-old, named locally as “Tucker”, was shot outside his home in Kensington.
Kensington residents believe the shooting was targeted and could have been drug related.
Two unknown men were spotted hanging around the three-storey block of flats from early in the morning according to those in the area.
It is thought they may be connected to the shooting.
Police said the man suffered two bullet wounds, one to the groin and the other to the thigh.
When officers arrived at the scene both the reported victim and the offender had left.
The victim managed to check into The Royal Liverpool Hospital where he is receiving treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and he is currently helping police with their enquiries.
Forensic experts were flanked by dozens of officers and contained within yards of blue police tape which sealed off the road to traffic from Hall Lane to Kensington Library.
House-to-house inquiries were being carried out and high visibility patrols have been stepped up.
Merseyside Police is treating this as a targeted attack.
Merseyside Police would urge anyone with information to call the investigative team on 0151 777 5636 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
