Jealous boyfriend guilty of attack

A FRENCHMAN has been found guilty of beating his glamorous singer-girlfriend.

Frederic Poullain strangled and pushed musician Natalie Reeves while in a jealous rage after a party at her luxury dockside flat at Waterloo Warehouse.

The market trader was found guilty of assaulting the former frontwoman of Liverpool band Chione on January 22 by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court.

But they cleared the 30-year-old, formerly of Croxteth Road, of attempting to administer a poisonous substance and kidnapping her.

It was alleged Poullain, who has a history of carrying guns, had forced the businesswoman to take an overdose of paracetamol at knifepoint before ordering her into his van in a bid to take her to France.

But these claims were rejected by the jury.

They were unable to reach a verdict on a further charge of assault, which was alleged to have occurred weeks earlier on November 25, 2007, as they stayed in a hotel.

Judge David Harris QC adjourned sentencing until July 28.
