Shooting scene, Wavertree Road _320
POLICE want to speak to passengers on a bus who may have witnessed a Liverpool shooting.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the foot on Tuesday night, in Wavertree Road, Edge Hill, at around 11.20pm.
The number 79 bus was travelling out of the city centre along Wavertree Road at the time of the shooting, and police believe passengers may have witnessed the attack.
The victim sought refuge in the nearby Weighing Machine pub after the lone gunman fired several shots at him.
As the man ran away, the gunman caught up and shot his victim in the foot from close range.
It is believed the gunman escaped into a nearby estate.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A section of Wavertree Road, at its junctions with Durning Road and Marmaduke Street, was sealed off as officers carried out a detailed search of the scene.
