Move for ethical pensions

LIVERPOOL Council last night approved a motion calling on the Merseyside Pension Fund to ballot its members over calls for ethical approach to investing its members’ pensions.

Wirral Council administers the pension fund shared by workers at five Merseyside councils.

However, the chairman of the Pensions Committee, Wirral councillor Ann McLachlan, said: “The fund does a superb job in supporting the local economy and many of its investments help to provide jobs for the people of Wirral and Merseyside.”
