LIVERPOOL’S new Post Office will open today after a controversial move from its city centre premises to a WH Smith store.
The stationers opened last month in South John Street in Liverpool One and now the Post Office shop is scheduled to open there at 9am.
The new branch has taken over from the flagship Crown Post Office in St John’s Shopping Centre.
The move was initially criticised by watchdog Postwatch Northern England, which said it was untenable because of plans to close other Post Offices in the area.
However, Post Office Ltd says this branch will be the most modern in its network of 14,500 post offices, offering a full range of products and services.
