A MAN was fighting for his life last night after being shot in the chest.
The 26-year-old was found slumped in an alley off Shallcross Court, Everton, at around 1.10am yesterday.
He had suffered gunshot wounds and remained in a serious condition in hospital last night.
Police say the motive remains unclear and the incident is not being connected to any other recent incident in the area.
House-to-house enquiries and forensic examinations are continuing, as is a highly visible police presence in the area.
Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Moore said: "We are warning people who use guns that you will be targeted for any crimes you commit.
"As in this case, in areas where guns are fired, the police response will be immediate. Criminals will suffer the full weight of the law.
"As ever, we also need the public's help to solve, target and disrupt criminality.”
