Teenager admits to shooting drug boss

A 17-YEAR-OLD gunman has admitted the New Year’s Day shooting of a notorious drug dealer.

Crime boss Daniel Gee was blasted in the stomach at point-blank range at 5.30am – just four days before he was arrested for master-minding a city centre drugs conspiracy.

Teenager Jamie Starkey was arrested a month later and initially charged with the attempted murder of Gee, one of four well-known brothers from Everton’s Grisedale Estate. At Liverpool Crown Court yesterday he denied the charge, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of wounding with intent.

Appearing via video-link from HMP Ashfield, the dark-haired youth, who has learning difficulties, also admitted possessing a Colt 45 self-loading pistol.

His pleas were accepted by prosecution barrister Anne Whyte, who said their case had been hampered by Gee’s refusal to help.

Starkey will now be sentenced on July 28.
