A 31-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a bus in the Warrington area yesterday afternoon.
The collision occurred in Pennington Lane at 4.45pm, when a single-decker Arriva bus travelling towards St Helens was in collision with the motorcyclist, who has not been named. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the bus was taken to Whiston hospital to be treated for shock and minor injuries, along with a passenger.
Thousands at fun day
AROUND 6,000 people attended the annual Kensington Summer Fun Day held yesterday.
Emma Rigby, who plays Hannah in the TV soap, Hollyoaks, joined event organisers Kensington Regeneration and guest percussionists Global Pulse to launch the day with a drum roll.
Kensington Regeneration communications chair Enid Bristow said: “It was a fantastic day enjoyed by around 6,000 people.”

A GOVERNMENT Minister is to open the World Fire- fighters Games in Liverpool at an Olympic- style ceremony on August 25.

Building Trade Skills Centres said the number of people wanting to go on a plumber training course had increased in the past few months.
The organisation surveyed 600 adults and found that almost four out of five now expected to work in a different career before retirement.
