Nautical life captured on camera

LIVERPOOL Capital of Culture has brought a feast of sea-going craft into the docks – and Daily Post readers have been busy with their cameras.

The Grand Princess and the Clippers have provided plenty to get excited about.

Contributor Jeffdalt’s shot of Grand Princess passing in front of The Liver Building really puts the vessel’s sheer size into perspective.

A similar image taken by Eric The Fish 2008 entitled Come in A271 your time is up . . . shows what a range of ships have sliced through the Mersey this month.

A windswept picture of Clipper Durban whistling past the West Tower captures much of the raceday magic that thousands poured onto the docks to witness last weekend. Meanwhile, dewmuw’s “Messy!” image captures the mindbending tangle of wires, rigging and winches that seafarers appear to master with ease. Like many contributors, he has used post-production tweaks to highlight a moody sky.

Online these nautical frames make up a tiny proportion of what is to see.
