A NEW rescue boat designed specifically to deal with an aircraft falling short of Liverpool John Lennon Airport has been launched.
The new boat hit the seas at the all new Mer-seyside Fire and Rescue International Water Skills Centre, at Merseysport.
It is a centre of excel-lence for water rescue skills for all emergency service workers and community groups could also get training.
The new additions will help meet the demands placed on the service.
Between June, 2005, and the end of December, 2007, MF&RS river rescue team attended 400 critical call-outs. But their boat was getting past its best.
A new boat was design-ed and built by Liverpool-based MST. It is 10.5m long and jet-driven, with the ability to be used in all weathers.
