LIVERPOOL Culture Company’s £70,000 head of communications has announced he is leaving, half way through the city’s flagship year.
In September, Paul Newman will leave to become the new head of communications at Peel Holdings’ huge £3bn Media City development in Salford Quays which will be home to more than 2,000 BBC staff from 2011.
Culture Company press officer Helen Johnson will also be joining Media City.
Staff were told of Mr Newman’s departure in an email from director Kris Donaldson.
It read: “I wanted to let you know that we will be losing Mr Newman to a great opportunity as communications director of the new Media City development with Peel Holdings.
“Paul has done a fantastic job over the last three years driving our comms efforts and it will be very sad to see him go.”
Mr Newman joined the Culture Company after working as director of communications at the Football Association.
He also spent more than 20 years as a broadcaster.
Media City UK chief Brian Greasley said:“I’m delighted we’ve now secured a proven communications team who can start to actively take the Media City story out there.”
