LES DENNIS and Claire Sweeney have been confirmed as hosts for next month’s search for Merseyside’s stars of the future.
Now That’s What We Call Culture is billed as the region’s own version of Britain’s Got Talent, in which two days of auditions will be followed by a one night only event at the Echo Arena. The competition is open to anyone who believes they can wow an audience and pull a crowd.
Speaking about the finale, Les Dennis said: “I’m delighted to be involved in such a great event, Merseyside is renowned for its wealth of talent and I can’t wait to see what’s out there in 2008.” Liverpool Culture Company’s creative director, Phil Redmond, added: “The reason behind doing the show at the Arena is to give our biggest stage to what might become some of our biggest talent in the future.”
Two days of auditions will be held at the Echo Arena on August 6 and 7, with the 12 lucky finalists invited to perform at the grand finale before a panel of celebrity judges on August 8.
The winner will get the chance to play a starring role in the closing ceremony of Capital Culture year, as well as making a guest appearance in Channel 4’s teen soap, Hollyoaks, and a cash prize of £1,000.
