Sounds of Africa to be heard at Zoo

CHESTER Zoo visitors can enjoy a taste of Africa at a special late-night event featuring Zulu Warrior dancers.

The 110-acre zoo will stay open much later on Saturday August 16 to enable visitors to enjoy a leisurely evening at their favourite tourist attraction.

The Lazy Summer Evenings will see guests taking a gentle stroll around the zoo grounds, visiting animal houses such as Elephants of the Asian Forest, Spirit of the Jaguar, Realm of the Red Ape and the Tropical Realm.

Liz Thwaite, Head of Visitor Services at Chester Zoo, said: “The Lazy Summer Evenings are the perfect way to enjoy some family time and this event has a distinctly African theme.

“The Zulu Warrior dancers visited the zoo last year and were a huge hit with visitors so we are delighted to welcome them back.

“The Zulu Warriors will also be performing at the zoo twice a day from August 1 until August 31.”

The African-themed barbecue will be laid on for visitors before they enjoy some dancing with the Zulu Warriors troop.

There will also be an African animal trail for visitors to follow with face painting on the Ark Lawn.

The evening is a flagship event for Cheshire’s Year of the Gardens, a year-long celebration promoting the best of Cheshire’s gardens.
