Weather conditions were said to be fine at the time of the incident.
A rescue helicopter from RAF Valley airlifted the man to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor but he was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
North west Wales coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones has been informed and a post mortem examination has been ordered.
The incident follows the rescue of another Merseyside man on Monday.
A 35-year-old walker from Southport was winched to safety by a search and rescue helicopter from the summit.
Rescue 122, based at RAF Valley, were called at 11.20am after the man suffered a minor leg injury and exhaustion.
He was on his second day of the three peaks challenge, having driven down from the Lake District the previous night.
The man was taken to Bangor Hospital, along with another member of his group.
Later that day, rescuers were again scrambled after a 60-year-old man fell 20ft whilst descending Tryfan.
Rescue 122 lowered a winchman, Sgt Ed Griffiths, to the casualty who was 50ft below the summit of Bwlch Tryfan.
The man suffered head, chest and arm injuries and was flown to Bangor Hospital.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team helped to stabilise him before the helicopter arrived.
