Merseyside gardeners helping this year’s Tatton Show to bloom

THE 10th RHS Flower Show Tatton will be open to the public today with a strong selection from Merseyside gardeners.

The popular event comes as Tatton also stages its first Biennial event, with artistic works celebrating the beautiful location.

The show was open to members only yesterday but thousands are expected to attend the event which con- tinues until Sunday.

Head gardener, Sam Youd, said: “It is a great time of year for us at Tatton. This 10th year is a very special one, and it’s a testimony to the hard work of the team that it has been all smooth running so far.”

Among those taking part from Merseyside are Ness Botanical Gardens with a Garden for Bees, highlighting the importance of bees to gardeners.

Philippa Probert, from Wirral, has two gardens – a “plant lovers retreat” called Time Out, which is described as “ideal for an older couple to sit in peaceful surroundings ” and Outer Spaces, featuring a swimming pool and children’s paddling pool.

Jackie Knight Landscapes, from Formby, has created Kew-Kaw-Sun – meaning rock, water and wood. Also specially commissioned is a work by Tatton Park Biennial artist Nicky Coutts, who helped create the Snow Lantern.

Ticket hotline is 0870 247 1223.
