WORK starts today to replace the cast iron water mains on Wellington Road, Wavertree, Liverpool.
The thoroughfare will be closed for five to six weeks while plastic pipes are installed.
A diversion route will be in place and temporary traffic lights will be installed on Picton Road and Rathbone Road. Homeowners will continue to have access to their property
United Utilities’ project engineer Henry Bennett said: “The new pipes will not only improve the quality of Wavertree’s water supply but also enhance its reliability, such as reducing the risk of pipe bursts.
“These improvements come as part of United Utilities’ £2.9bn water quality and environmental improvement programme between 2005-2010.
“Once the pipes have been installed we would like to reassure customers that our work here will be fully completed.”
