FIREFIGHTERS praised a four-year-old boy whose quick-thinking saved his home from burning down yesterday.
The boy dialled 999 after smoke started pouring out of his microwave.
When fire crews arrived at his home in Long Lane, Croxteth, they found him wandering around in tears.
It is unclear if his parents were home at the time and Merseyside Police are investigating.
Paul Kay, watch manager at the search and rescue team in Croxteth, said: “Two of my crew gained entrance to the property from the rear. The smoke alarm was going off and the lad was in distress.
“His call is pretty impressive. If it wasn’t for the actions of both crews arriving so quickly it could have ended in a more tragic fashion.”
The smoke was so thick fire fighters had to use breathing apparatus.
The ground and first floors of the house suffered smoke damage.
The boy was treated with oxygen for smoke inhalation by paramedics.
